Problem Note 37615: You see an "#AttributeError" in an account's Numeric Attribute column after you execute a Copy Period/Scenario Data
If you create a new period/scenario for one of your SAS® Activity-Based Management models by selecting Model ► Copy Period/Scenario Data using the SAS Activity-Based Management client, you might see "#AttributeError" in the cell of an account that should display the Account's Numeric Attribute. This might occur if the Numeric Attribute's Value box is unchecked at Step 4 of the Copy Period/Scenario Data wizard.
Step 4 of the Copy Period/Scenario Data wizard includes a heading that reads Attribute Associations and Values. This step prompts you to "Specify what attribute information you want to copy." Using the Parcel Express model as an example, at step 4 you see an Association column and a Value column for the numeric attribute Number of Inspections. If the Association box is selected but the Value box is deselected, then the model that you create using the wizard contains the "#AttributeError." The error occurs in the cell for any account that has been tagged with the Number of Inspections numeric attribute. You see the error when the column layout includes the Number of Inspections column heading.
You can resolve this error by performing one of the following three steps in the SAS Activity-Based Management client. Since you need to perform only one of the steps, please review all three so that you can choose the one that is best for you.
- You can right mouse click on an account that shows the "#AttributeError" in a cell and select Manage Attributes. In the Manage Attributes dialog box, under the Account's attributes section, select the numeric attribute followed by the Remove button. Select OK to close the Manage Attributes dialog box. You can then select Manage Attributes again to launch the Manage Attributes dialog box and use the Add button to add the numeric attribute back to the account.
- You can export (File ► Export ► Model Data) the model and make the following selections in the Export Wizard:
- Step 1: "Select specific tables and properties" and select "Database" as the destination.
- Step 2: Set up a connection to either a Microsoft Excel document or a Microsoft Access database and select the Model - Period - Scenario experiencing the "#AttributeError" error.
- Step 3: Select only the ValueAttributeAssociation table.
- Step 4-7: Accept defaults.
- Step 8: Select finish.
The next step is to import (File ► Import ► Model Data) the ValueAttributeAssociation table back into SAS Activity-Based Management by following these steps:
- Step 1: Select "Database" as the import type.
- Step 2: Set up a connection to the datasource that you created above, either the Microsoft Excel document or the Microsoft Access database.
- Step 3: Verify that the ValueAttributeAssociation table is selected.
- Step 4: Accept defaults.
- Step 5: Accept defaults.
- Step 6: Select the Existing model radio button, and then select your model from the drop-down menu. Select the Update all data in the model, then import new data radio button.
- Step 7: Select Finish.
- You can search for impacted accounts (Edit ► Search Account) and make a global change by following these steps:
- In the "Search for Accounts" dialog box, in the "Property or Attribute" box, expand the "Attributes" folder.
- Under the Attributes folder, select your attribute.
- With your attribute selected, under "Operator" select Null.
- Select the Add button.
- Under the "Search for" section, ensure that the Accounts radio button is selected. Under the "Search in" section, ensure that the All Modules radio button is selected.
- Select the Search button.
- The "Search Account Results" dialog box displays your results. You can expand column headings to see the full name if the full name is not displayed.
- In the "Search Account Results" dialog box, select the Select All button.
- With all the accounts selected, select the Actions button, followed by "Add Attributes and Values."
- In the "Add Attributes and Values" dialog box, expand the Attributes folder. Select your attribute, and then select the Add button.
- Your attribute is added to the "Attributes and values" section. Ensure that the value is acceptable — for example, 0 (zero) or whatever value you choose.
- Select the OK button.
- Select OK to close the "Search Account Results" dialog box.
